Suits – “Faith” Episode Review

Beware, spoilers follow.

I think every one would agree when I say that Season 5 is by far the best season of Suits, and this mid-season finale more than proves it.

Suits Episode Review – “No Refill”

Warning, spoilers follow.

Bring in Charles Barkley!

This is a TV series I’ve been meaning to cover for the past couple of weeks, but was unable to review it until today, and what an episode to review.

While it may not compare to the debut episode of the season, the drama and tension in this episode was downright palpable, with a tinge of levity.

First we go with the drama and tension. And if you are a longtime viewer of this series, you’d know that Suits really deals with the law office drama and politics, and in this episode fell nothing short of that. We are basically getting to know the big bad this season in Jack Soloff, an associate in the office looking to make a name for himself. And truth is, I’m enjoying this villain with how he torments Harvey Specter. And mind you, Harvey isn’t the one to get flushed, but with all the drama surrounding him and Donna, we are seeing the cracks in Harvey’s armor. I particularly liked how Jack came in Harvey’s office seemingly trying to play nice then suddenly coiling-up and biting off Harvey’s head off, its usually Harvey who does this, but what a way to turn around the tables on Harvey.

Things continued to go against Harvey when he found out that Mike Ross was collaborating on a case with Robert Zane, to which Jessica green-lit, after some arm twisting from Mike. To make things worse, Harvey had his worst panic attack as to date when he and Jessica got into it regarding Soloff.

On Mike’s side of things, everything looks fine and dandy with the partnership of his would be father-in-law. Both of them hit the ground running on their case and even got to enjoy their own personal victories in the case; Robert laying the smackdown in the conciliation proceedings, and Mike nailing it during the court hearing. This episode clearly showcased how far Mike has come, and even offered us a glimpse of his tragic past and at the same time gave us an idea how great Mike is when he challenged the judge to pick a page and he would recite the contents of that page from memory. Having said that, I can’t help but fear that this partnership won’t last and that sooner or later Robert will discover Mike’s secret.

As for the resolution on Harvey’s woes, he is getting there. We are seeing increments of his development and moving-on from Donna. And it truly is refreshing just to see him this vulnerable. As for the near future, I can foresee another threat to the law firm headed by Soloff and a reluctant Louis Litt. And that thing Harvey did at the end, we all know that this would blow-up in his face.

I give it a 8.5/10
