ESGS 2017 was an amazing spectacle of all things gaming. There were massive booths, crazy cosplays and impressive games in every which way you went on the show floor. This year, Geekend Gladiators took the time to appreciate the awesome standouts at the show and award them for all their tremendous work and dedication.
It’s time once again for the most wonderful time of the year! At least for gamers in the Philippines that is. ESGS is happening right now at SM Mall of Asia and here are 7 reasons why you shouldn’t miss it!
Everything is Bigger and Better
This year, ESGS is much bigger and better than ever before. The Con occupies the whole Ground Floor of the Mall of Asia, SMX Convention Center and the exhibitors are clearly happy to make use of the bigger and wider spaces. All sorts of gargantuan booths have popped up all over SMX! From the awesome Playstation Area, the Ancient Egyptian-themed Ubisoft booth, Synergy 88’s cylindrical game station featuring an actual DJ pumping music, and the huge Brawlfest Area everything is much more of an awesome spectacle than ever before.
At one point or another, we’ve all dreamed of becoming a superhero. While having superpowers is out of the question, we could all still become a superhero through videogames. And with the success of the Arkham franchise, the Injustice games, and even the Tell Tale superhero games, there’s little to no doubt that the next medium for the comic book/superhero genre to dominate is the videogame realm. The sad part about this, though, is that there are few successful comic book video games in the market, despite the existence of the aforementioned properties and the expected success of the Spider-man game. On that note, we here at geekendgladiators.com have come up with our own list of superheroes who deserve their own video game titles, and also a possible game play for their respective video games.
Asia Pop Comic Con is the biggest Geek and Pop Culture Convention this side of Asia and The Geekend Gladiators had the honor and privilege to cover it this year! We had tons of fun at the Big Show checking out its always-amazing booths and stalls, meeting and interacting with its star-studded guest line-up and overall, just taking in the atmosphere and expression of all things geeky.
There were plenty of things to enjoy about the show but here are our favorites!
The Geekend Gladiators are listing once again this week’s most important stuff in the world of geek and pop culture. As always, we will provide a list of things to watch, read, play, and even important events to look out for.
Without further ado, here’s the Geekend Gladiators’ Pick of the Geek:
Garrison: Archangel is a promising new 3D Mecha-Fighter from the local Philippine studio, Indigo Entertainment. The game fast-paced action brawler in the vein of the classic mecha-fighters such as Armored Core and Virtual On. The game allows up to 4 players to compete using customizable mechsuits called Archangels as they duke it out in Deathmatch-style Arena combat.
In this week’s mega-sized In the Car After, Raffy is joined by Jam and Matthew Arcilla from New Game Plus as they talk about E3 2017!
You’ll hear all about everything they liked at the show, games they’re looking forward to, How Rabbid Peach needs to be the new meme, Monthly Krakens, Miles Morales and How it’s always nice not be a White Guy.
Buckle up and watch out for that mustachioed Dinosaur, it’s In the Car After!
