All the Valyrian Steel We Know (so far) In Game of Thrones and Who Wields Them

In the second half of Game of Thrones Season 7, the focus now shifts towards the much-anticipated war between the living and the dead, as Night King’s forces are inching their way south. As it appears, our heroes have an uphill battle when it comes to defeating the white walkers with the lack of available dragon glass. Just recently, Jon Snow struck a deal with Daenerys to allow him and his men to mine dragon glass from Dragonstone.

Game of Thrones

However, we do know that dragon glass is not the only weapon that can kill white walkers, as a good old Valyrian steel can do the trick as well. Problem is, with the fall of Valyria, there’s just no one left who makes Valyrian steel. Luckily, there are a handful of them left in Westeros.

Here’s the remaining Valyrian steel, and the characters who currently wield them. Continue reading “All the Valyrian Steel We Know (so far) In Game of Thrones and Who Wields Them”

Recommended Restaurants for Valentine’s Day

It’s almost Valentine’s Day, but have you figured out yet where to take your significant other? If not, here’s a little cheat sheet for you from the Geekend Gladiators.

RUSTIC MORNINGS

For this year Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday, and what goes best with a Sunday and date days? Brunch, of course. But why Rustic Mornings you ask, if you haven’t figured it out yet, it caters to the brunch-going crowd while serving the best rustic dishes this side of town.

While the Geekend Gladiators have yet to post a restaurant review of Rustic Mornings on their Geekend Destinations column, rest assured we have tried it out numerous times and their dishes are spot-on every time that we do. Truth be told, the restaurant has already amassed a following as patrons not only from Marikina flock this place, but all over the Metro, too! It’s the best place to start out your romantic day with your significant other.

We highly recommend their Waffles, Buffalo Chicken Strips & Salad. It’s THE reason why we return again and again and again and again. The waffles are cooked perfectly and have that crispy finish to it, and the butter and syrup are just to die for. The buffalo chicken strips complement the waffles really well and the sauce just accentuates it even more. And the salad is just as good as the rest of the dish. The most exciting part is that the dish would cost you only P250.00

Rustic Mornings is located along J.P. Rizal St., San Roque, Marikina City. The best landmarks are the Our Lady of the Abadoned Church and the Marikina Shoe Museum.

PATIO VERA

If brunch isn’t your thing, and dinner is, then we highly recommend you try Patio Vera. Patio Vera is a restaurant that specializes in traditional Filipino food while providing that perfect romantic ambiance with help from its intimate garden setting.

From the outside you wouldn’t assume that there’s a romantic haven hidden underneath it, but once you step through their gates you’d realize that this is the best place to spend your romantic evening in. As stated above, it has that intimate setting that could turn your date from good to awesome.

If you do plan to eat here, then we have to tell you to get their Lengua and the Classic Kare-Kare. Let’s just say that you’d really regret not getting either or both dishes because it is just superb.

And if that doesn’t convince you to try it out, then maybe this will. Patio Vera is the very restaurant where Gladiator Gino proposed to Phoebe. That’s how romantic the place is.

Patio Vera is located along Gen. F. Santos St., Calumpang, Marikina City. If you do plan on going there, be sure to make reservations. Their customer service is very good and willing to accommodate their patrons.

SALLIANO’S RESTAURANT & BAR

This list wouldn’t really be complete without one of our highest reviewed restaurant, Salliano’s Restaurant & Bar, in it.

If you haven’t read our review, then let me tell you why you should try it. Salliano’s set the bar really high for us with the all around superb dining experience. We loved it for its ambiance, service, affordability and its food. If you want to impress your significant other, this is the place to be.

If there’s one thing that we’d really recommend from this restaurant, we can’t because there are at least 3 dishes you have to try, and these are the Slab Bits on Waffle, the Meatball ala Salliano, and the Tablea Chocolate Cake. We do have to warn you for the impending foodgasm that you’d have, but that’s the whole point of all this.

So where is this place? It’s at Guerilla St. corner Gil Fernando Ave., Marikina City. If you want to find out more about our time there, check our review here.

BEEFFALO

Let’s face it, Valentine’s Day is not just about going out with your significant other, it’s also about spending time with your loved ones, be it your family or a group of friends. This is where Beeffalo comes in. Now don’t get me wrong, Beeffalo is also an awesome place to bring your significant other.

So why do we recommend Beeffalo? Well if you’ve watched countless rom-coms (which I haven’t), then you’d know that whenever there’s a date it would almost always involve eating at a restaurant that serves steak. And by now you’d probably have guessed that Beeffalo does in fact serve steak. But why here though? It’s because they serve really good steak at a very reasonable price. Truth is, just like Rustic Mornings, this is one of those restaurants that has become a default dating place for us.
