Pick of the Geek (April 24-30 2017)

Last week was a hell of a week with DC and Marvel starting their respective summer events in astounding fashion. Let’s see if this week continues the upward trend. Here’s what caught the eyes of the Geekend Gladiators this week.

Our favorite “losers” are back this week with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

There’s plenty to be excited about with this movie as our heroes continue to guard the galaxy (see what I did there?) from cosmic threats. We also get an unlikely team-up between the Guardians and Nebula.

The movie will also explore the Peter’s lineage, as his father (Ego) would be introduced here. Oh, and who doesn’t love baby Groot?

P.s. stick around for the post credits scenes, rumor has it that there are 5 scenes. Yes, 5!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits cinemas this April 26.

The last time we saw The Flash, he finally accepted his fate to face off against Savitar without any of his team’s help. In this week’s episode, The Flash travels to the future to find out who Savitar is in the hope of saving Iris. From the looks of the trailer, this is going to be one grim episode, which will be directed by none other that Tom Cavanagh.

Cassandra Cain faces off against the League of Shadows in this week’s issue. While the book has hinted on Cassandra defecting from her team as she continues to feel like a stranger to this team, she did however step-up to help out her team by taking on the League. As to whether she could save them is another question that might just be answered in this week’s issue.

Flash #21 continues “The Button” story line from last week’s Batman #21. We got a glimpse of what the Button spells for the entire DC universe with Eobard Thawne making an appearance and facing-off with Batman. As to what the Scarlet Speedster would do once he discovers that Reverse Flash has returned and his connection with this mysterious button is up in the air. We’ll just have to find out this week.

Wolverine vs. The Hulk? Yes please!

Logan will face-off against the Hulk and Wendingo in this issue as the “Past Lives” story arc continues to progress. As the story goes on, Logan must make a decision on whether he would continue to go through the course of history or change it.

little nightmares

The Geekend Gladiators had a chance to check-out this game in ESGS 2016. We couldn’t help but get excited about this puzzler-horror game. Since we only tried the demo, we weren’t familiar with the whole backstory, except the fact that you control a little girl trapped in a gloomy dark world where she must escape from a giant, stalking monster.

Little Nightmares will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on the 28th.

There you have it, our picks of the geek. Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comments section below.
