In an emotional segment on Raw this Monday, Finn Balor announces that he has to relinquish the WWE Universal Championship due to an extensive shoulder injury.
The announcement comes just mere hours away from him claiming the title at the recently concluded Summerslam 2016 when he beat Seth Rollins. In the same match, Balor had sustained the injury when Rollins launched him into a barricade and landed awkwardly. It wasn’t immediately evident after the match that Balor had been injured however it was very suspicious that he was not holding up the title belt. Furthermore, in an appearance in Good Morning America earlier today, Balor was holding the belt in an awkward position leading fans to speculate on his condition. Finally on Raw, his fans fearing the worst would be heartbroken with the new as he relinquished his title to Raw General Manager Mick Foler and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon.
Raw will again conduct another mini-tournament which will serve as a qualifier for a Fatal-Four Way match to determine a new champion. The participants include: Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Neville, Big Cass, Rusev, Roman Reigns and Chris Jericho.
