Pick of the Geek (18 – 24 April 2016)

Hey there Gladiators, its that time of the week once again for our Pick of the Geek. For those of you who are new to this, on Pick of the Geek we list down our PICKS for the week on anything and everything geeky.

Without further ado, here are our picks:

It’s the season finale for Supergirl! After last week’s Myriad episode where it ended on an impending showdown between Supergirl and a brainwashed Alex, expect this episode to make good on that showdown. Supergirl will likewise have to save National City and Earth from Non and his mind-controlling scheme. Will our hero make it out alive? Find out this week.

A Zoom origin story? I’m all for it! This might be the best confrontation between The Flash and Zoom, yet. Here’s to hoping that we get a worthy showdown between The Flash and Zoom, not only action-wise, but ideal-wise as well.

The penultimate episode to this season’s surprise hit show will air this week. Brian Finch and the FBI are on a city-wide manhunt to find a lab producing NZT that seems to have been released to the public. Brian must also find Piper despite lacking the resources to find her.

action comics 51
By: Peter J. Tomasi, Paul Pelletier, Karl Kerschl (DC)

Arguably one of the better Superman stories of the New 52 era, Superleague continues on Action Comics #51. Superman discovers that his cousin Kara has been missing for some time, and must find her soon with the help of Batman. But just what has been Kara up to all this time, and could Kara be aligned with someone Superman disapproves of?

american alien 6
By: Max Landis, Jonathan Case, Ryan Sook (DC)

Superman American Alien continues to impress with every chapter/issue released. This time around, Pete and Kenny visit their friend Clark in Metropolis, only to find that Metropolis has come to accept Superman all-too-much to the point of idolism. Pete finds this rather troubling which results to a confrontation between Pete and Clark, which results to an encounter against an alien.

By: Greg Rucka, Michael Lark, Owen Freeman, Eric Trautman (Image Comics)

If you haven’t picked up a Lazarus book yet, we suggest you do, as it is one of the best action-oriented titles on the market with some of the best characters in the present titles available. Lazarus Sourcebook offers a different perspective in the world of Lazarus as readers are immersed through the eyes of citizens of the Carlisle state. And if the main book is any indication, this will also offer some of the best characterizations outside our main characters.

cap 8
By: Nick Spencer, Paul Renaud (Marvel)

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past month or so, the Avengers Stand-Off crossover has been one of the more compelling stories from this revamped All-New All-Different Marvel era. And yes, Steve Rogers is finally back to his good-ole self. Now, witness the three heroes who have taken the mantle of Captain America team-up against the threats in Pleasant Hill.

So there you have it, our what’s what of things to watch out for this geeky week.

Did we miss anything? Have something on your list that you believe should be included? Let us know in our comments section below.
