Pick of the Geek (April 4-10)

Its that time again for the Pick of the Geek, our weekly list of what to look forward to this geeky week.

Very little is known about this film, yet people have been buzzing about it ever since a surprise trailer was shown late last year/early this year. Speculation has it that this film may take place within the Cloverfield universe, and that the characters in this film are survivors of the Cloverfield movie.

With J.J. Abrams at the helm of this movie, we can’t help but recommend it, after all the last time J.J. Abrams kept a movie under wraps like this we got an unexpected treat in the form of Cloverfield. Hopefully this movie surprises the audience once again.

Unlucky Plaza got on the Geekend Gladiators’ radar mainly because it focuses on a Filipino living in Singapore who owns one of the most popular Filipino diners in the country. However, due to a food poisoning incident, he is now on the brink of bankruptcy. To make matters worse, he gets duped by a financial scam. To stave off the misfortune, he takes matters in to his own hands and holds a group of people hostage, sparking an international outcry.

Issue 1 gave us action sequence after action sequence, befitting of our favorite femme fatale. We are hoping for more of the same in issue 2. Natasha’s war against S.H.I.E.L.D. continues, but could it be that Natasha still keeps tabs and protects the agency that is hunting her down?

Time manipulation and third-person shooter in one? Seems interesting! Quantum Break revolves around the character of Shawn Ashmore as Jack Joyce, as he tries to avenge the death of his brother. The game features some nifty action sequences and with the added element of time manipulation, players would get to utilize a number of combinations to take down enemies. Aside from that, there are puzzle based segments of the game that would surely keep players entertained.

Quantum Break also features a digital series which focuses on the villain side of things, and after each episode, the player gets to make a choice which would directly affect the game.

Quantum Break will be released on April 5, 2016 on Xbox One and PC.
