2016 promises to be an exciting one for movie-goers and hardcore fans! And with a lot of movies begging for your money, its tough to pick-out the ones that deserve your well-earned dough. So allow us to make your lives simple so that you won’t break the bank this year with the 10 movies we’re excited to see this 2016 (in no particular order).

For many loyal DC fans, this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for. It just doesn’t get any better when you see Batman and Superman together in a film, ready to go ahead each other (or maybe not) based on Batman’s personal vendetta against Superman. If that doesn’t get you pumped-up, then maybe there’s something wrong with you.

Aside from that, we also get to see Wonder Woman and maybe some other members of the Justice League make their debut as all roads are heading toward the on-screen debut of the Justice League!

The movie is slated for release in March 2016. For more of our insight on the movie, check out our other BvS related articles here and here.

Another massive heroic showdown will be gunning for your attention this year as Marvel looks to make good on the years of building up on the subtle tension between Captain America and Iron Man since the first Avengers film in this year’s Captain America: Civil War. If the comic book is anything to go by, this will perhaps be the biggest story that the MCU would produce.

For those still unfamiliar with the movie, it will pit Captain America and his group of heroes going-up against Iron Man and his team, as Iron Man will look bring Captain America to justice due to the superhuman registration act.

Oh, and by the way, this would be the first movie for the MCU phase 3 and would surely set the tone for the entire slew of movies to come from Marvel. We discussed what phase 3 means for the MCU here. The movie premieres this May 2016.

Fox looks to follow-up on the success and the end credits tease from the X-Men Days of Future Past with this year’s entry, X-Men Apocalypse. Fans of the X-Men comic books would recognize this as another adaptation of the many legendary stories from the X-Men lore.

The movie which serves as a debut for the younger Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm, will focus on the X-Men tasked to stop Apocalypse and his Horsemen from creating a new world order.

X-Men Apocalypse premieres in May 2016.

From one mutant movie to another, the much-awaited Deadpool movie will finally premiere this February 2016. After the “mishandling” of Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the movie is poised to remove the foul taste left by the aforementioned movie.

The movie also sets to make a clean slate on Deadpool by giving the merc with a mouth a different origin story. This isn’t your typical superhero movie either, with Deadpool sporting an R-rating and more of a revenge, mercenary plot going with it. Expect it to be violent, bloody, and fun!

The DC movie universe continues to expand this year with Suicide Squad. Fans have been raving about this due in large part to Jared Leto’s Joker and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

Set in the same universe as that of BvS, Suicide Squad features some of the deadliest villains this side of DC as they are employed by A.R.G.U.S. to be the “good” guys. Expect this movie to be one hell of a roller-coaster ride and a vehicle for setting-up the larger DC movie universe.

Take note, this Suicide Squad is different from the Arrow-verse Suicide Squad.

Suicide Squad opens in August 2015.

Star Wars fans rejoice, another Star Wars movie will premiere in December 2016. Yes, you read that right, another movie.

The movie is still shrouded in mystery as to its plot, with only a basic description released as a heist movie, and not a simple heist movie, but one that focuses on a team set to steal the plans of the Death Star. From there we could predict that this epic would take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Aside from that, we could only wait for more details, in the meantime, lets enjoy the epic movie that is the Force Awakens.

Trekkies are salivating over the third installment of the rebooted Star Trek series. In the third film the USS Enterprise crew are stranded on an alien planet and must work together if they intend to survive.

J.J. Abrams remains on the production side as its producer, and with Justin Lin (Fast and the Furious) taking over the directorial duties. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, and Karl Urban return.

Catch it in cinemas this July 2016.

Doctor Strange is the second movie slated for the Phase 3 of MCU, and the second Marvel movie this year. After several teases from past MCU movies (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Winter Soldier), Dr. Strange finally makes his cinematic debut in his stand-alone movie.

Serving as his origin story, expect to be immersed in the world of the sorcerer supreme in this film, as Marvel continues to delve into the world of magic and the mystical. Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character, with Rachel McAdams (presumably Night Nurse), and Mads Mikkelsen.

Doctor Strange comes to theaters near you in November 2016.

Potterheads rejoice as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will bring us back to the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

Based on the famous book with the same title in the Harry Potter lore, the movie follows Newt Scamander as he visits New York in the year 1926. During his visit, the magical beasts and dangerous creatures escape from a magical briefcase and terrorizes New York. In short, just another day in the world of wizarding.

Eddie Redmayne stars. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premieres in November 2016.

Finally, a movie adaptation of a popular videogame worth salivating over. Warcraft focuses on the impending war on Azeroth between humans and orcs as the orcs invade the humans to survive the destruction of Draenor.

Based on the trailer alone, this movie is poised to launch the revolution of videogame movie adaptations, and to take over the void that the Lord of the Rings franchise left.
