A new year, a new week, thus a new Pick of the Geek!
This week, several TV Shows return from their Christmas break, Year 5 of Injustice debuts, and the return of Star Wars The Force Awakens cap-off a promising year of geekiness.
SUPERGIRL “BLOOD BONDS”
Supergirl picked-up steam in the last couple of episodes before its Christmas break in the guise of a certain “Martian” reveal, and the discovery of Supergirl’s identity by none other than Cat Grant.
“Blood Bonds” looks to expound on the latter in this episode as Kara tries to disprove Cat while also going-up against Non (Astra’s husband). Supergirl returns on 05 January (Philippine time).
LIMITLESS “The Assassination of Eddie Morra”
The title itself seems ominous for this week’s episode? Could it be true that Eddie Morra would be assassinated or is this all a red-herring? Meanwhile, what could this mean to Brian and his connection with Morra, and to NZT. Furthermore, could this be an elaborate plot by Eddie Morra himself to inflict some damage to Brian after the latter confesses to his dad about NZT? One way to find out is by tuning in this Wednesday (Philippine time).
THE BIG BANG THEORY “The Sales Call Sublimation”
Your favorite geeks (aside from us) are back this week. Picking-up on where we left off in the last episode, the “Shamy” are finally back together. With this, Sheldon will make a romantic gesture that might just baffle Amy. While this couple looks fine and dandy, Leonard and Penny’s relationship might just be in danger with the two of them in a marriage counseling therapy of sorts. Find out what happens this Friday.
HEROES REBORN “Send In the Clones”
After some lack-luster story-telling in the first few episodes, Heroes Reborn is gaining some steam heading to its season finale with several storylines converging and giving us an idea of the bigger picture, much like season 1 of the original series.
This week Malina and Luke team-up to find Tommy, while Miko and Tommy join forces to bring down Erika. Carlos on the other hand will go up against Matt Parkman. Tune in this 8th of January.
INJUSTICE GODS AMONG US YEAR FIVE #1
If you’ve read Injustice Annual #4, then you’d have the idea that the all the villains and rebels that Superman caught and trapped are now free and wreaking havoc. Enter Batman, the thorn in Superman’s side, and now you have an enticing story for the first issue of Injustice Gods Among Us Year Five. As to what Batman would do and how Superman will react, find out in this week’s issue, this Thursday (Philippine time).
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #5
It’s hard to believe that the first story arc for this new Iron Man comic is coming to a close due to its truly enjoyable and light-hearted tone. But at the same time it also brings about a sense of excitement for what’s next for Tony Stark in this new iteration. In this issue Tony finally faces Madam Masque in what should be a good showdown, especially when Dr. Doom is involved.
STAR WARS: EPISODE VII THE FORCE AWAKENS
I know, this feels like cheating, but based on experience movies released in January are relatively not good. Now enter Star Wars the Force Awakens that ceded its slot in theaters to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and you have a movie worth watching even if you’re gonna watch it again, because frankly, who hasn’t? Star Wars the Force Awakens returns to cinemas this 8th of January.
