Pick of the Geek (August 24-30)

Another week, another geeky pick. Here are the picks of the Geekend Gladiators for this week in the realm of comic books, music, TV and games.

First up,

Comic books

Superman 43

By: Gene Luen Yang, Klaus Johnson and John Romita, Jr. (DC)

This current story arc is getting more and more complex as it chugs on. We got a glimpse of this figure in the latter part that has the ability to drain Superman’s power. This status quo of a powered down Superman is really an intriguing plot. Hoping that we get answers to the various plot threads.

Magneto 21

By: Cullen Bunn and Gabriel Hernandez Walta (Marvel)

This solo outing of Magneto has always been one of the under-appreciated books out there and too bad that it comes to a close in this week’s issue. Will Magneto finally be able to live-up to his code of protecting the mutants and people alike during the incursion? (Though I think we all know the answer to this). With such a stellar run, we can all expect that the finale would be bitter-sweet.

Suits Episode 10 – “Faith”

How time flies when we are having fun. The same can be said with this season of Suits. Everything is pointing towards a defeat for our beloved Pearson Specter Litt team with an impending take-over by Hardman with his pawn Soloff running-point in the firm. Meanwhile, Mike’s secret is catching-up on him and especially Rachel. Will Mike be outed? Will Hardman succeed? Those are just a few questions circling this mid-season finale.
