This is Geekend Update where the Gladiators give you the low-down of where, when and how you can spend your Geeky Weekend!

For this coming geekend, August 8-9, 15, there are a bunch of different and awesome things to do. Let your trusty Gladiators break it down for you:

Anime and Manga

Otaku Expo Reload is happening the whole geekend at the Megatrade Hall 1 at SM Megamall from 10am to 8pm. Tickets cost 150php per day and are available at the ticket booth by the entrance.

Watch out for: famous cosplayers! Re-knowed cosplayers Miu, Misaki, Miyuko and HORI will all be making an apperance! There will also be plenty of stuff going on such as Art Contests, Karaoke Contests, Battle of the Bands and apparently a genuine Maid Cafe!

Check out Otaku Expo’s Facebook page for more details.

There’s something Super Secret happening this week at Greenhills! Word is FILBAR’S is celebrating a homecoming of sorts to its original location! The illustrious comicbook and all-around geek store will be opening up a new branch at the 3rd Floor of Shoppesville, Greenhills this saturday August 8, 2015.

To commemorate this joyous occasion, FILBAR’s is asking everyone to share their favorite FILBARS Greenhills memory by taking a picture on Instagram and using the #FilbarsGH. 8 lucky winners stand to win exclusive Iron Man Unmasked or Hulk Glow in the Dark Funko Pops!

Check out their facebook page for more info!

Geekend Movies 1

Fantastic Four (or Fant-four-stic) is on its opening geekend but to be quite honest, it might be wise to hold off on seeing that and go watch Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation instead if you haven’t seen it yet.

Watch out for: (shameless plug) The 2nd episode of In the Car After which we will be recording after watching both movies. We’ll help you weigh your options if you’re none too sure of what to watch.

Gamescom 2015, the world’s largest gaming event, wraps up on the geekend but is happening the whole week long from August 4-8! Cologne, Germany may not exactly be just a jeepney ride away but thanks to the magic of the internet, media giants such as IGN and Gamespot are able to take the experience to you with their streaming and written coverage

Get up to date on the latest news about all the most anticipated games! (Well, almost all of them, Sony has chosen to skip the event this year and will not have a first-party presence) There have already been massive Xbox/ Microsoft announcements in their press-con yesterday as well as sporadic news from Blizzard. Today’s main draw is the EA Conference.
