Becky Lynch’s fiery new look has geeky origins

NXT up and coming superstar Becky Lynch debuted a brand new look in the Unstoppable event last week during her big title match against reigning NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks.

I, along with a few eagle-eyed fans, quickly noticed something.

That awesome new look and style is very reminiscent of the character Chandra Nalaar from the massively popular trading card game Magic The Gathering.

image

In the card game, Chandra is a crafty and powerful flame-slinging sorceress. In the ring, not only did Becky look the part, she was just as fiery and relentless as her alter-ego, pulling off maneuver after maneuver and giving the defending champion a legitimate run for her money. Lynch and Banks went on to deliver a match for the ages. One that needs to be seen to believed. One that many believe has elevated the state of women’s professional wrestling to another level. One worthy of the epic arcane duels and all-powerful clashes that Becky Lynch sought to invoke.

You owe it to yourself to watch it if you haven’t already, I won’t spoil the results here. image After the duel, Becky recently changed her twitter avatar to one of her sporting the new hairstyle and goggles. This has led fans to believe that this is now her official new look for the forseeable future.

I for one, cannot be more pleased.

Coincidentally, Sasha Banks is actually a huge nerd too! Also check out the 5 odd jobs Becky Lynch worked as before breaking into the WWE!. What do you think of these awesome geeky women? We wanna know! Sound off in the comments below!

He doesn’t know what the f*ck musings are but he is told he does them on his InstagramFacebook and Twitter.

  1. Well, the definition of Steampunk is a genre of sci-fi cosplay utilizing mechanical/metallic wardrobe. Being that Chandra is from Kaladesh, the aether-infused mechanical wonderland, it would make sense that Chandra’s wardrobe resembles Steampunk. Thereby, it could quite possibly coincidence that Lynch’s getup accidentally resembled Chandra’s.

  2. Thanks for posting about this! I know it’s an old post but I was trying to find some good information about when Becky started wearing this outfit and this was really helpful. I’m working on a review of the newest Mattel basic Becky in this exact outfit. Thanks a ton (and here’s hoping Becky retains tomorrow, although I really am liking Alexa Bliss lately, too!).

  3. I see it now that you mentioned it. Becky looks like Chandra from Magic, being a fan of the card game and a player that is pretty neat if you ask me. But, at first I thought it was a steampunk look, Chandra looks steampunkish as well.

I knew about AJ being a geek as she made her in ring character like the characters in Video Game/Anime and such…

More WWE superstars who are geeks:
I just found this out that Kofi Kingston and Stardust hobbies are Comics also Stardust loves Video Games as well. Finn Balor is into Painting, Comic books and Anime. John Cena is also into Anime and Video Games.
